Photography in India: fototgrafika.co.uk is dedicated to showcasing images of India as seen by photographer Kirsten Geerkens over a three year period. From the wild majesty of the Indian Himalaya, to the palm groves and fishing villages of Kerala's Malabar Coast, photography in this vast and often contradictory country is rewarding, but also offers challenges to the photographer in the selection and interpretation of images, and in trying to gain a deeper understanding of the people and culture on the other side of the lens. The photographic work shown here is divided into sections, with each picture gallery of the portfolio focusing on one aspect of the diverse life and scenery of the Indian subcontinent. The photo slide shows presented portray something of the landscapes, religions and people that together define modern India.
